A simple checklist that’ll help you get under way with preparing your save game and installing CLARALUX 2015!
If you’re thinking to yourself that this is too much to do to install a mod, I humbly remind you that these mods are recommended to give you an OPTIMIZED SKYRIM experience overall, not just a CLARALUX one. As such, not to be mean, but if installing them is too much trouble for you, please don’t use our mods as you will inevitably end up with problems.
Should you supplant your judgement for ours, please know that you stand an increased risk of problems. CLARALUX 2015 is a big mod and requires an optimized system with an unpolluted save in order to function at its best.
So, you’ve downloaded the mod and you want to get down to the carnage… links below will open in a new tab. Keep this one open as you go through the steps
More detailed explanations are available here… but this’ll get you started and will be a big help to you entire system, not just CLARALUX 2015.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO FIRST:
1 – Enable VSYNC and/or CAP your FRAMERATE to no more than 60FPS
Why? Skyrim physics react oddly to framerates higher than 60FPS. When your FPS is higher than 60 you may notice things like flying animals, projectile plates in houses, etc. Additionally, you may get blinking water and splashing sounds.
2 – Be sure your UGRIDS setting is 5 – no more, no less
Why? The higher your UGRIDS setting, the more SKYRIM has to load into memory. 5 is the default for a reason. Settings higher than 5 will result in the game attempting to load a larger radius of worldspace data surrounding the player. Not only might this lead to major performance issues, but might lead to CTDs.
3 – Be sure you have CLEAN PAPYRUS LOGS before adding CLARALUX
Why? If you have a ton of pollution in your logs, you are most likely looking at an already unstable game that has yet to screw you up… but it will sooner or later. You MUST HAVE A “CLEAN SAVE” if you want CLARALUX to perform as planned.
4 – Be honest… have you changed your INIs without really knowing why?
Why does it matter if you altered my INI files? Some INI alterations can cause problems and there are FAR too many variables at play for us to be able to help you if you’ve done some damage via your INI. Be sure you know what you’re doing before changing them. Information on INIs can be found at GrandBulwark’s Skyrim Project Stability and How to Have the Best Modded Skyrim Experience guide by CrushBoss
INSTALL THE REQUIRED MODS:
1 – INSTALL SKSE (SKYRIM SCRIPT EXTENDER)
Don’t have it? Click Here to get it.
Why do you need SKSE? SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender) is necessary in order to use the next mod, SKYUI which enables the in-game Mod Configuration Menu (MCM). SKSE also enables some advanced memory management and a “script error preventive”.
After you have installed SKSE – or if you answered YES, add the following lines to SKSE.INI (located in DATA->SKSE). If you do not have a SKSE.INI, you can make one in any text editor.
Note: These lines are good starting points. You may need to adjust the MEMORY settings based on your machine.
2 – INSTALL SKYUI
Don’t have it? Click here to get it.
Why do you need SKYUI? It is necessary for the in-game CLARALUX MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) to function, which in turn allows you to customize your CLARALUX experience.
3 – INSTALL ENB/ENBOOST
No. Click here to get it.
Why do you need ENB? It is necessary for increasing the amount of RAM that Skyrim can utilize. Skyrim is a 32-bit game and can therefore only use about 2GB of RAM on its own. ENB has a feature known as ENBOOST which increases available resources. It is a build in feature of newer ENB Binaries. Should you prefer not to utilize ENB’s graphic enhancements, they may be disabled. Please see this link for more on ENB.
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO USE ENB (or for that matter, what it is)?

GET READY TO INSTALL CLARALUX:
1 – ARE YOU STARTING CLARALUX2015 ON A NEW SAVEGAME?
Why does it matter? Because you are less likely to have a polluted savegame. A new savegame is best.
2 – ARE YOU UPDATING FROM CLARALUXv2 USING AN EXISTING SAVEGAME?
Why does it matter? In order to update, you’ll need to remove the older scripts from your save in order to have a stable game. The link above explains how.
3 – ARE YOU ADDING CLARALUX 2015 TO AN EXISTING SAVEGAME that has not had CLARALUX installed on it before?
Why does it matter? It is best to run an error-free game, and in many cases, mod-users have all manner of pollution and Papyrus errors. Removal of orphaned scripts from your save will go a very long way to preventing crashes and unpredictable behaviour. The link above explains how to clean you save for best results.
